A local tradition, the Santa Barbara County Fair has been held for over 100 years. The first annual Santa Maria Valley Fair was held in September of 1891. By 1920, the fairgrounds were located in the 700 block of East Main Street and were officially named The Santa Barbara County Fair. The fairgrounds moved to Hancock Field adjoining Miller Street and remained there until after World War II, then moved to the current location at Stowell Road and Thornberg Street. In 2000, the facility was renamed Santa Maria Fairpark, Home of the Santa Barbara County Fair.

2008 will usher in the 117th annual Fair, which will be held July 9-13, 2008. Themed “Rock Around the Clock”, we invite you to visit www.santamariafairpark.com for breaking information and a full schedule of planned events.

For additional information about the Santa Barbara County Fair, contact Joe Brengle. She can be reached at (805) 925-8824 or via email at jbrengle@santamariafairpark.com.
